Interwoven TeamSite Software Lets Third Party Contributors Add Content To Companion Web Sites for Digital Channels E4 and FilmFour

Sunnyvale, California - April 9, 2001 - Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV ), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management software, today announced that leading UK- based broadcaster Channel 4 Television has implemented Interwoven TeamSite software to manage content for the two broadband companion Web sites, E4 and FilmFour. Channel 4, home to Britain's Big Brother sensation, will use Interwoven TeamSite as one of their strategic technologies to support all existing and new Web initiatives.

E4's Web site, www.E4.com , is a collection of entertainment pieces including comedic animation, games and film footage and entertainment content while combining Web and digital narrow-casting. TeamSite's scalability, the ability to provide a framework and process for large teams to develop content collaboratively, allows E4.com to add content on a daily basis. With large amounts of content continuously being added to the sites, Interwoven empowers Channel 4 to rapidly develop new and existing Web pages by enabling third party contributors to easily add information and dynamic content.

Another important feature of TeamSite, especially for companies in a regulated industry, is the full audit trail that is created whenever anyone submits, approves or publishes content. Legg Mason is able to exert a greater level of control over publishing to its external sites with tailored approval workflows and permissions appropriate for each Web property.

"E4.com is a unique concept we've built while utilizing the best technology. The site is regenerated at least once a day, with all of the new content, plus yesterday's content being added into archives that can be accessed continuously," said Peter Pedersen, interactive chief technology officer of Channel 4 Television. "We actively push daily entertainment to people so it was critical that we have the scalability of Interwoven TeamSite to allow us to grow at a rapid pace with ease."

TeamSite is being used to manage program listings, games, articles and Web cards in support of the new digital channel. Interwoven was able to implement the initial project for E4.com within a very tight deadline, squeezing over 120 days worth of effort into just over one month.

"FilmFour.com outsources parts of its interactive programming, so we need to work with a large number of external content providers and Web agencies," added Pedersen. "Interwoven TeamSite and TeamSite Templating enables Channel 4 to involve these third party and non-technical suppliers to easily and rapidly add content to our Web sites without requiring knowledge of HTML."

The www.filmfour.com site has a large repository of film trailers, in particular, films that are distributed by Film 4 Distribution. TeamSite Templating, which is the separation of form from content, empowers contributors to add information about actors, film directors and film festivals for an advanced film and cinema search while maintaining a constant look and feel.

"Channel 4 is a successful traditional broadcaster helping to lift the curtain on broadband potential and converting the Internet into an entertainment medium," said David Ogidi, managing director, UK and Ireland, for Interwoven. "Interwoven TeamSite enables Channel 4 and its partners to develop and manage content across multiple, dynamic Web sites, thereby allowing Channel 4 to maximize existing intellectual and technical resources."

iPlanet, an Interwoven technology partner, provided the Web server for both sites.

Channel 4 was established by UK Act of Parliament in 1982 and enjoys unique status as the world's only major public service broadcaster funded entirely by commercial activity. Placing a premium on "innovation and experiment in the form and content" of its programming, it has been Britain's most cutting edge, controversial and creative broadcaster of the last two decades. Channel 4 commissions all its programs from third parties and, almost single-handed, has helped nurture and grow a vibrant community of more than 1,400 independent producers in the UK. Recently Channel 4 has branched out into pay-TV with the acclaimed launch of the FilmFour channel and E4 and is planning further brand-building initiatives in interactive television and the Internet.
