Mobilizes the Workforce Enterprise-Wide Through Breakthrough
Ease-of-Use; Extends Content Re-Use to the Extended Enterprise with XML Enhancements
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. GearUp 2000 Conference, October 2, 2000 Interwoven,
Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management
software, today announced the release of version 4.5 of its TeamSite, TeamSite
Templating and OpenDeploy software solutions for the development, management
and deployment of business-critical Web sites. The product suite, available
immediately, offers new functionality to improve ease-of-use and enable content
sharing across the extended enterprise. Key enhancements in version 4.5 are:
* TeamSite Front-Office provides contributors access to TeamSite publishing
functions from within Microsoft Office 2000 and Windows Explorer.
* TeamSite Workflow Builder allows business managers to quickly design
and modify workflows using simple drag-and-drop, thereby streamlining the development
process.
* Extended XML functionality in TeamSite Templating offers superior
flexibility for capturing, storing and sharing all types of content using any
industry-standard XML DTD.
Frank Russell, one of the worlds largest investment management and advisory
firms, uses Interwoven to empower content contributors from throughout their
organization to publish directly to the Web. We keep our Web site rich and
informative by drawing knowledge from subject matter experts from throughout
the company, said Karl Porter, product specialist at Frank Russell. The new
ease of use in TeamSite 4.5 will make publishing easier for our subject matter
experts.
TeamSite Front-Office allows casual contributors to submit content directly
from Microsoft Office 2000 applications and Windows Explorer. TeamSite Front-Office
extends a set of predefined TeamSite publishing menus, including the ability
to submit content to the TeamSite server. For example, a product manager can
publish a white paper simply by selecting a pull-down menu item from within
Microsoft Word. This functionality empowers all users to contribute content
from their favorite desktop authoring tool without any training.
TeamSite 4.5 is an excellent example of an application that takes advantage
of Microsoft Office 2000 extensibility and directly benefits customers, said Scott Garvey,
director of industry solutions. By providing Microsoft Office 2000 menu items to allow direct
Web publishing, Interwoven is making content contribution as easy as sending a document
to the printer.
The new TeamSite Workflow Builder allows business managers
to design and modify workflows using a simple drag-and-drop, improving project
management and streamlining the development process. Since business managers
can now easily build custom workflows, they can ensure that the right content
gets to the right person at the right time for the right action without relying
on IT or the Web team.
TeamSite Templating provides an integrated, XML publishing solution that enables
structured content authoring, enterprise-wide. TeamSite Templating now allows
users to capture, store and share content based on any standard XML DTD. Now
enterprises can reach beyond their traditional Web properties, enabling targeting
of content for segmented audiences regardless of delivery channel. Enterprises
can now easily deliver content to any wireless device, B2B exchange or in any
number of formats or XML flavors.
The ability to support new XML advancements within mission-critical applications
is paramount to every eBusiness, said Andrew Warzecha, vice president at META
Group. Products like TeamSite that provide robust features for supporting new
options for authoring, repurposing, and syndicating content are a distinct advantage
for users in leverage their investment over the long-term.
The strength of an eBusiness is dependent on its ability to capture and share
critical information, said John Van Siclen, senior vice president of corporate
development for Interwoven. Now customers can mobilize their entire workforce
to contribute to their Web initiatives and share content across the extended
enterprise. For further details on all the new features in the 4.5 release
